Life is Learning

Are you curious about unique subjects and love to learn? Our goal is to create an innovative learning environment that fosters learning through socialization of members and classroom discussion.

We provide noncredit courses that are challenging and fun to take.

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at the University of Oklahoma is dedicated to promoting lifelong learning and personal growth of older adults, age 50+, through a variety of noncredit courses. Our courses range from one-time offerings such as Mornings with the Professor to longer, more specific courses like Senior Seminars.

Membership Matters

OLLI at OU has met the 500-member goal established by The Bernard Osher Foundation and we are one of the endowed Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes. We must continue to have a robust membership in order to offer as many quality programs as possible. Annual membership is $40 and is valid July 1-June 30.

All participants are required to become members of OLLI. For more information about membership, or to start your membership, visit our Membership area.

The Erna Jona MacDonnell Scholarship Fund has been established to provide OLLI at OU Memberships to age 50+ learners so that they may enroll in OLLI at OU courses. The scholarship is need-based and awards are dedicated by committee. Those interested in applying for the scholarship should fill out the Scholarship Application found below.

Mornings with the Professor

bookcoffeeglassesMeeting most Tuesday mornings throughout the fall and spring semesters, each Mornings with the Professor session provides participants an engaging glance at a variety of enlightening and amusing subjects.  Presentations range from witty and fun to controversial issues facing the world today.

OU Book Club

This special program has been one of OLLI at OU’s most popular courses. It’s the only OLLI program that is held on both the Norman campus and at Full Circle Bookstore in Oklahoma City. Led by Dr. Rufus Fears, the OU Book Club focuses on a different work of classic literature each month.

Senior Seminars

Senior Seminars are short courses offered during all three OU semesters – fall, spring, and summer. Each course is four to six weeks long and the topics change each semester. There are no exams or papers to write.

Elderlearn

Elderlearn provides a one-day, intensive focus on a specific topic. Held on the OU Norman campus, this special program is one of OLLI at OU’s longest running and offers adult learners a spectacular view of the world around us.
