Our Programs
OLLI at OU offers noncredit programs for everyone age 50+. There are challenging courses but also courses that are just fun to take. Our faculty comes from music, art, science, journalism, and religion among many other disciplines, not to mention the community around us.
At OLLI at OU, we want to offer the best, most varied slate of classes we can to the largest number of participants possible. The courses are serious but fun. We give all of our participants an opportunity to learn – and that process takes place not only by lectures and presentations but from the participants’ discussions as well.
Mornings with the Professor
Mornings with the Professor is an informal lecture series held on Tuesday mornings throughout the fall and spring semesters with some of the University of Oklahoma’s most engaging faculty members.
In this series, instructors choose a favorite subject and volunteer their time to participate in this very successful program. You can sign up for one or more offerings each semester.
Come get a cup of coffee and settle in for a morning of entertaining and educational interaction.
OU Book Club
Offered monthly October-May, the OU Book Club continues to be one of OLLI at OU’s most popular courses. Each month brings a new book, a new lecture, and a lively discussion from one of OU’s best professors. Join us as Dr. Rufus Fears leads you on a discovery of times past and lands far away as you read a different work of classic literature each session.
This is OLLI at OU’s only course that meets in two places – on the OU campus in Norman and at Full Circle Bookstore in Oklahoma City.
Senior Seminars
The closest thing to traditional courses, Senior Seminars are as varied as their participants. Covering topics such as Global Jazz, Origins of Christianity, and Documentaries with a Twist, these courses offer something for everyone. Running four to six weeks long, each session is educational, fun, and inspiring.
These noncredit courses offer adult learners an opportunity to gain insight into a specific topic and discuss their life experiences with other participants of a similar age. Meeting weekly for about two hours at a time, the meetings are a great way for adults to get out and become involved.
The sessions are enriching and enjoyable and are led by some of OU’s top professors. And best of all – there are no exams or papers!
Elderlearn
This long-running program offers the adult learner a glimpse into a specific topic. Only one day long, Elderlearn is a great way to focus topics such as Calligraphy, Oklahoma Geology, or the Religions of the World.
This exciting program features OU faculty and community members who are knowledgeable in the subjects and can present interesting topics in a short amount of time.
